Death Sentence (2007) - James Wan

Synopsis:
After Nick Hume's son is killed as part of a vicious gang initiation, the mild-mannered insurance executive decides to take the law into his own hands. Unfortunately what he ends up with is a war against a vengeful brother and his merciless gang.

A highly unseen and, by those who have seen it, a highly underrated film about a man's quest for revenge and the lengths that he'll go to get it. How anybody can hate on this baffling. The film is heart wrenching at times and the sympathy you feel towards these characters is only heightened by an incredibly strong sound track which fits the tone of the film perfectly. The action is suspense driven and you'll find yourself off of the edge of your seat and glued to the screen wondering how in the hell Kevin Bacon is going survive this time. Unfortunately there are moments, especially towards the end, where the strong character relationships and motives are lost which is a shame considering the impactful beginning. Belief will also have to be suspended concerning the action sequences but the integration is so seamless and engaging that you go along with it anyway. In short this is a fun film that gets you thoroughly invested in it's outcomes.
