Moxie... is a fighter. Period. He is a hero drawn to battle and no matter what injuries he sustains he will fight on. During his last large scale battle he lost both legs just above the knee but, through pure determination he battled on. The only weapon he had to defend himself with was a stick and from now on it that is the weapon that he stays by, relishing the challenge of battling on with such a primitive tool. He even refused medical attention, choosing to carry through the pain with pure grit. One day he may fall, but he cares not, a warriors death excites him more than anything else, and if he can take a being of malevolence with him, then all the better.
