Wreck-It Ralph (2012) - Rich Moore

Synopsis:
An arcade game 'bad guy' looks to shed his villainous image by becoming a hero and collecting a medal. However, his innocent attempt to be appreciated puts the arcade in jeopardy.

Wreck-It Ralph should without a doubt be considered a statement work for Walt Disney Animation Studios. They caught our attention with Tangled and are now really starting to throw their creative weight around with this brilliant nod to arcade game classics, bringing depth to a previously 2D affair. After seeing the flawless short Paperman this critic has to assume that old animation titan may well be on its way to claiming its place at the top of the animation company food chain. Although its narrative structure begins slightly wandering, Wreck-It Ralph quickly gets a strong foothold and leads us exquisitely through a world most people could only dream of. Humorous, action packed, drenched in nostalgia and, at times, it tugs deep at your heart strings, what more could you want?
