Synopsis:
Searching for the truth behind his parents disappearance leads Peter Parker to a scientific research centre where he is bitten by a radioactive spider and endowed with superpowers. His journey also leads him to Dr. Connors, his fathers former partner.
A slightly grittier and much more relatable film compared to the time when Tobey Maguire donned the spidey suit. The change of Spiderman's origin story is fresh and gives enough nods back to the original diegesis of the animated series and comic books to keep old fans of the hero happy. The action sequences are unquestionably more impressive than ever but more could have been done concerning depth. The issues of guilt and responsibility, which feature prominently in the source materials, don't feel as present or important here. With that said when you've only got two hours to fit in an entire history of comic book lore you can look past that small fault and see just how many other nails have been hit on the head. Here's to a bright future!
